Debbie has been in catering since 1997, owning Blue Heron Catering since 2005. She is committed to bringing people together through food.  Debbie values the relationships she has with her own team, her customers, and her industry partners. Her mission and responsibility as a green certified business (since 2007) is to practice and teach sustainability while providing honest, soulful food from our local food shed.  Debbie believes in the power of community; which has brought many awards and accolades to Blue Heron over the years, including The Best of Oakland Magazine Award in 2025.

While the sustainable food movement has become a way of life here in the Bay Area, we have always made using our local food shed a priority in our business model. As a Bay Area based company, our commitment to local and responsible food has strong roots in California that are reflected in our menus.

Blue Heron is highly sought after because we work so closely with the people who grow, raise and produce everything we use. It is not unusual to see a chef, event manager, or owner out on the farm or at the market stall.
