Founded in 1988, Blue Heron Catering has won many awards and accolades, and was named one of the top caterers in the Bay Area in a BayFood Magazine readers’ poll.

Our recipes have appeared in many magazines, including Bon Appetit, Sunset, Gourmet, Diablo, and San Francisco Focus; as well as in most of the Bay Area's newspapers.

You may also have seen our recipes in such cookbooks as Compliments of the Chef, The Art of the Sandwich, and The Open Hand Cookbook.

Publisher Lynn Broadwell features Blue Heron Catering in Here Comes the Guide, her Northern California guide to event sites and services which are "unequivocally the best in the business -- the people who we’d recommend to our friends and business associates without hesitation."

Blue Heron Catering is also one of a select group of businesses included in the party and wedding resource guide book, By Recommendation Only, which recently featured a Cooking for Couples recipe created for a Blue Heron wedding.

Blue Heron Catering is on the preferred caterers list or frequently works at such sites as the Brazilian Room, Dunsmuir House and Gardens, Piedmont Community Center, the Kohl Mansion, the Montclair Women's Cultural Arts Center, Preservation Park, Highlands Community Center, the Haciend de las Flores, the Bancroft Hotel, the Green Room, the Regency Building, the Casa de la Vista on Treasure Island, and other popular local event venues.

The Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce named Blue Heron Catering the Small Business of the Year of 1996.

We are proud to be a part of the community, and to contribute to it. On behalf of our clients, Blue Heron Catering donates excess food from our events to Oakland Potluck. Blue Heron Catering takes an active part in the events and catering business community. We contribute articles to the trade press, and regularly attend meetings of the International Special Events Society and the Bay Area Wedding Network, organizations dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in the event and catering industry.
